MONTRÉAL'S LA CLASSIQUE ON THE ROAD TO PARIS FOR CHARLES PHILIBERT-THIBOUTOT



Montréal, April 16 2024 – The road to Paris and the Olympic Games will go through La Classique d'athlétisme de Montréal for Charles Philibert-Thiboutot. The 2023 Pan Am Games 1500 metres gold medallist confirmed he would be on the starting line for the Boutique Courir Premium 1000 metres on June 21at the Claude-Robillard sports complex.

The 4 time national 1500m champion and holder of all the Québec records from 1000m to 10 000m, Charles will attempt to improve his 2:18.38 PB and grab the 1500$ prize money for the winner.

The 1000 metres is a rare inclusion in most summer outdoor meets and could be an attractive tune-up race for many 1500 metres specialists towards the Olympic Trials June 26 - 30.


Winner of the 1500 metres at La Classique in 2021, Philibert-Thiboutot was 4th in the 800 metres in 2023. Already holding a 1500 metres qualifying time for the Paris olympics, the Québec City runner will make La Classique his last stop before the Olympic Trials.


The Québec track and field fans will be spoiled during the 10-day period between June 21-30 with La Classique and the Athletics Canada Olympic Trials held back to back at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard.
